A scheme called the Provincial Health Inspection Center (İSDEM) has become operational across Turkey. İSDEM to oversee the supervision of COVID-19 inspections and collects tipoffs from citizens regarding the violation of measures in place to curb the spread of the outbreak.

The purpose of İSDEM is to plan and coordinate inspection works as well as coordinate the teams on the ground and answer to complaints from the public. The centers operate on a 24/7 basis in all cities.

18,000 teams authorized

Some 18,000 teams with 65,000 personnel have been authorized to carry out inspection work since the launch of İSDEM.

The centers pass the complaints and tipoffs received through several hotlines and the mobile application HES, the acronym for “Hayat Eve Sığar” (Life Fits into Home), regarding violations onto the teams. On the first day of the countrywide launch of the scheme, some 1,600 complaints received and more than 5,000 inspections handled.

Hi everyone,
I’m running Turkishtechnews.com, a website on tech developments from Turkey. I will be covering subjects ranging from startups to gadgets, digital economy to social media. I’m keen on new technologies as well. On top of those, I’m interested in drama and cinema, with one short and one long film script and three plays. Holding a B.A degree in English Language and Literature, I’m a tech journalist with 15 years of experience.

The reason why I’m here is to produce good quality journalism and try to remain independent as much as possible. Currently, journalism is torn between vague relationships between brands and journalists, not only in Turkey but also globally. Under such circumstances to remain independent is crucial and I need your support to do so.
