The training covered from startups to impact investments, FDI and finance journalism

Certificates were delivered at a ceremony to those who participated in the training program organized in cooperation with Anadolu Agency (AA) and the Presidency of Republic of Türkiye Investment Office to raise awareness among journalists and who want to specialize in foreign direct investment and entrepreneurship journalism. The training program took place AA’s Istanbul office on July 16 – 18.

Deficiency in quality content and the solution

AA President and CEO Serdar Karagöz and Presidency of Investment Office President Burak Dağlıoğlu attended the ceremony. Serdar Karagöz, in his speech at the certificate ceremony, said that they found a deficiency in quality content in the Turkish media, quality content is possible with the help of well-trained journalists. Presidency of Republic of Türkiye Investment Office President Dağlıoğlu said they focused on direct investments and technology entrepreneurship. “While communicating on this subject, we strive to make more accurate statements, to reach our target audience in the right medium and to communicate correctly in this medium. Of course, we are trying to bring international investors to Turkey first. Once they settle here, we will continue to help them throughout their life cycles, “ added Dağlıoğlu. “We provide all kinds of services and contribute to the improvement of the investment environment. However, we are aware that we must strive to increase awareness on this issue,” emphasized Dağlıoğlu.

What I learned at the program

Personally, I attended the program and found it helpful for my professional and individual development. One of the sessions of the program was about impact investment, delivered by Tuğçe Söğüt, Secretary General at Impact Investing Advisory Board (EYDK). “Foreign investors coming to Türkiye also consider about the social impact side of their investments,” said Söğüt. Jacopo Dettoni, Editor at fDi Intelligence, gave a lecture on the significance of foreign direct investments, underlining the contribution of FDI on the local economies.  (I have a sustainability interview here with Nivogo, operating in circular economy)
