Uber adds Getir’s food, grocery, retail and water delivery services to the portfolio
Uber Technologies agreed to acquire Getir’s delivery operations in Türkiye, expanding its presence in the country’s fast-growing on-demand market. No financial terms of the deal have been announced.
The deal covers Getir’s food, grocery, retail and water delivery services, pending regulatory approval and standard closing conditions. (By the way I have a story here about Uber’s technology center investment in Turkey)
The acquisition brings Getir together with Trendyol Go, Uber’s existing delivery platform in Türkiye, strengthening Uber’s local delivery network. After the transaction closes, Uber plans to integrate the two services to broaden restaurant and retail options for customers and create more delivery opportunities for couriers.
Uber: Türkiye is a long-term growth market for us
Getir users will continue placing orders through the company’s mobile app but will gain access to additional restaurants listed on Trendyol Go. Trendyol Go customers will also be able to order groceries directly from Getir through the Trendyol Go platform.
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said the company sees Türkiye as a long-term growth market, citing its expanding digital economy and strong consumer demand. He added combining the two platforms would help create a more competitive delivery ecosystem for consumers, merchants and couriers.
Mubadala Deputy Group CEO Waleed Al Mokarrab Al Muhairi noted the transaction reflects Getir’s progress in building a leading delivery business in Türkiye and reaffirmed Mubadala’s interest in investing in the country.
Getir CEO Batuhan Gultakan called the deal a major milestone for the company and said Getir’s rapid delivery expertise would now become part of Uber’s global operations.
