Rumors came into reality, Uber acquired Trendyol GO
Uber acquires Trendyol GO, a subsidiary of Trendyol’s active in food and market delivery, for $700 million in cash. Rumors broke out around 2 weeks ago, today came into reality. Currently the Trendyol GO platform lists 19,000 couriers and 90,000 markets and restaurants in Turkey.(Here’s I have a story about Uber’s work culture via a book)
Let me note that Uber plans to add Uber Eats features into Trendyol GO upon the completion of the acquisition.Having founded in 2010, Trendyol serves to 40 million customers in 11 countries, including Germany, Czechia, Slovakia and Hungary. As a side note, Alibaba acquired Trendyol for $728 million in 2018.
Long-commitment to Turkey
“With Uber and Trendyol GO coming together, we aim to further advance the delivery industry in Turkey for consumers, couriers, and especially small and family businesses, as well as restaurants and grocery stores. The deal demonstrates our long-term commitment to Turkey,” said Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO at Uber.
Trendyol GO announced in a filing that it delivered more than 200 million orders in 2024, making $2 billion in gross bookings, which was higher 50% as compared to 2023.
