This is Uber’s fourth technology center outside of United States
Uber plans to invest $200 million in Türkiye over the next five years to establish a new global technology development hub in Istanbul, the company announced. The site will become Uber’s fourth tech center outside the United States, alongside existing facilities in Brazil, India and the Netherlands.
The announcement revealed at an event attended by Türkiye’s Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır and Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi. (Let me add that I have a story here about the acquisition of Trendyol GO by Uber)
Uber expects cooperation with Turkish universities and private-sector partners

Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO at Uber
Uber’s move underscores Türkiye’s fast-growing R&D environment and strong engineering talent pool. The company acquired a majority stake in Trendyol Go earlier this year, with 180 engineers moving to Uber during the integration process. The new hub is expected to work with Turkish universities and private-sector partners.
Let me note that more than 12,000 companies operate in 113 technoparks nationwide, developing technologies ranging from AI and fintech to space systems, according to the ministry.
