Temu restarted operations in Turkey

Temu’s Turkish subsidiary, WhaleCo Turkey Teknoloji, will handle imports directly

Temu resumed sales in Türkiye under a new import structure after briefly suspending cross-border shipments earlier this month.

The halt followed a government move to end simplified customs procedures for goods valued below €30. During the pause, the company restricted sales to products already stored in local warehouses. (The company stopped shipping by the last week of January)

Operations have now restarted through Temu’s Turkish subsidiary, WhaleCo Turkey Teknoloji, which will handle imports directly. Taxes will be collected at checkout, while the company will handle customs clearance, removing the need for customers to work with brokers or pay extra processing fees. (By the way I have a story here about Temu and Türkiye removes duty-free limit for overseas shopping(

Temu will handle the customs directly

Industry officials said the subsidiary, founded about a year ago but previously inactive, will now be subject to the same safety inspections and regulatory requirements as other importers, ending what had been lighter treatment.

The revised system shifts responsibility for import duties to Temu, a change expected to influence pricing. Let me note that minimum shopping amount at Temu is YTL580 (approx. USD13.5).

Fatih Balkan, Head of the Association of E-Commerce Infrastructure Providers, said the company will consolidate orders into shipping containers, bring them into the country in bulk and distribute products domestically.
