EU offers €4.4 mln grant for Turkish tech projects

11 companies from various industries to be backed

The EU Commission backs several Turkish firms’ tech-related projects, announced the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) last week, according to Hürriyet Daily News’s story

The commission to grant a total of €4.4 million ($4.94 million) to Turkish companies with projects active in the fields of nanotechnology, advanced materials, biotechnology, advanced manufacturing, and processing technologies, explained a TÜBİTAK statement.

11 companies to be backed

Under the industrial leadership and competition component of Horizon 2020, an EU program promoting research and innovation, a total of eight projects at 11 companies  will be backed by the EU.

The 11 Turkish firms selected for the grants include energy giant TÜPRAŞ, home appliances producer Arçelik and cement manufacturer Çimsa.
